{Sneak Peak Engagements at the Gorge!} | Portland Wedding Photographer

Here is a little sneak peak from this weekends engagement shoot. These two were just too much fun:) More to come so keep on the look out.

Spring Family / Maternity Photos | Portland Photographer

It’s that time of year again! It’s getting warm, the days are longer and flowers are blooming all over the place. And yes, babies are on their way-especially for this family! Amy and Jeremy are expecting their second child-a little girl! Someone is going to be a proud big brother. And let me tell you, this little man will melt your heart. He is so darn cute! He knows where sissy is and you can already tell he loves her. We took these photos out of town on a quaint little property. It actually had everything you could want for pictures; fields, trees, a pond and an old barn…it was pretty much perfect. I wish the best for this beautiful family and I can’t wait to see their little princess! It was the perfect day for portraits and you literally couldn’t ask for better weather.

Hey there Mr. P for Peacock!!

Hello there Mr. P for Peacock. I hear you’re up bright and early, as it is known by your loud squawking that kind of sounds like you’re saying a word that isn’t really distinguishable. It’s really more like a child screaming but it’s heard from much farther away. Aside from your charming morning announcement, you grace us with your presence-you with your vibrant blue and tropical green eyed feathers.  Your tail feathers sway in the wind so gracefully atop that branch that you have so carefully picked out as your roost for all of your evenings. Luckily for us we get to park our cars under that very special branch. You gift us with your morning ritual of pooing, which always seems to land on the top of the cars-hmm…so thoughtful. As the day goes by and the sun comes out who couldn’t resist a little sun bathing. You’re like a medium size heating pad. You lay on the ground absorbing all the suns wonderful rays but at last the ground just doesn’t seem to cut it. You seek something that can help you soak up the sun. Why over there, it’s a dark blue car. How perfect! You walk your dinosaur strut towards the car, spread your wings and lift yourself to the roof. Oh how perfect a place for sunbathing this is! Don’t mind your two inch claws that scratch up the metallic paint or the invitation you give your neighbor peacocks that this is such a fantastic idea. It’s really all about you and that is where you want to be.

You’re never afraid to let us look at your beauty. And I wouldn’t say you’re very humble about it either. You spend hours spreading your tail feathers and showing off for the ladies-and you…are…a ladies man. Sure, there are other gents around but the fact is, you’re the boss and you let everyone know it. You spend part of your afternoon chasing around the young P’s, making sure they know their place. You tease the ladies…all…day…long. But, you never tire.

And I will say you are quite the entertainer. On the late afternoons that I don’t have the time to entertain Milly, you always seem to pop your head out and volunteer at just the right time. The excitement in Milly’s eyes is so priceless. She runs over to greet you and you just run! Oh how she loves to play chase Mr. P! And you indulge her so well too. But if you weren’t such a curious middle sized bird, this wouldn’t be a problem. The first time you saw Milly, with her Boston eyes bulging out of her cute little face, you couldn’t resist but to come check out this silly looking creature. Your curiosity is unparalleled and it almost always gets you into something…like a dog half the size chasing you:)

I will say though, the farm wouldn’t be the place it is today if you didn’t make your home there. Oh how I can’t even imagine what it would be like to sleep peacefully with no disturbing screams at night. You are beautiful and you are loved.

Random Photographic Stop at the Grand Canyon | Portland Photographer

So a good friend of mine and I were on our way home from a week-long road trip in Arizona, when we decided that we wanted to go to the Grand Canyon. It was about a six and a half hour drive from where we were in Quartzite Arizona to the Grand Canyon, and I knew that if we did go I really wanted to be there for the sunrise. So we left Quartzite at 11:30pm and arrived at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon at 9:30am. We were the only people there and it was awesome! It was so cold out when we got there and we were really unprepared for 13 degree weather. But we didn’t care, we were just so happy to be there! We jumped out of the car and started exploring the grounds in our pajamas. We were like little kids sneaking around in places we weren’t supposed to be. About a half hour later people started arriving to capture morning photos or to get a head start on a long hike. So we jumped on the 6:30 bus that takes you to all the popular viewing areas and we waited for the sun to come up. It was so cold while we were waiting. We didn’t have big socks or hiking shoes. Lucky I had my big jacket, Maria had a couple extra hats and a pair of little mittens and that was about it to keep us kind of warm. But it didn’t matter, we were just so excited to be there. I could put up with the freezing cold just to get some pics of the sunrise. That was really all that mattered at that moment. I’m really not a landscape photographer. I’m more of a portrait photographer but I think I captured some really beautiful photos. I can’t wait to go back again! Enjoy the photos! Please, please leave me some feedback. Much thanks!

The photos below were taken near Quartzite in the Sonoran Desert. It was such a beautiful day out, the sky was blue and it was really windy! This was only because we were kind of in a tunnel. There is a large grouping of rocks that form kind of a canyon. So even though it was perfectly still out, you come close enough to this area and it gets really windy. This place was called Palm Canyon. They call it this because there are palm trees growing in the middle of crevices. It’s really pretty and a little out of the ordinary. They seem to grow in really random places and all of the palms seem to be way up at the top of the canyon.

Columbia Edgewater Country Club Wedding | Portland Wedding Photographer

I wanted to thank Jennifer of Velocity Shots for asking me to second shoot with her. Below are some of my favorite photos from the day. This was my first time as a second shooter and let me tell you, it’s harder than you think. I’m so used to having my normal routine but because I was Jennifer’s second shooter I wasn’t quite sure where I was supposed to be at all times. I was trying to stay out of her way so I wouldn’t be in her shots and then at the same time I was trying to keep my eye out for great opportunity photos.  But we worked really well together and communicated so the whole wedding went without a hitch. I even learned some new things. It’s always interesting to see how someone photographs compared to you and sometimes because of that, it’s a great opportunity to learn new things and techniques! Thank you Jennifer for having me along! Enjoy the photos! Please check out her work here!

Brianna is a very sweet and beautiful young woman and I’m so happy to have her on my Rep team! We got so lucky this weekend with the awesome weather! We’ve had to cancel our sessions three times prior because good old Oregon weather was turning on her charm…yea not so much. But I’m glad it worked out the way it did because this Saturday couldn’t have been any nicer.

On a side note I couldn't be any happier with all of my reps. They’re motivated to help out and that’s more than I could have asked for with these students. They’re awesome and I can’t wait to reward them with their hard work and effort at the end of the senior season. They have all received an album that showcases some of their favorite photos, along with some senior rep cards to give out. If you know these students, make sure to stop them at school and get some rep cards from them. You can get 10% of your entire session! For another senior rep session check out Ivan’s photos with this link! http://wp.me/p1mD6R-kZ We took Ivan’s photos in the heart of Portland and they turned out great!

Meet {Lil Milly}!!

So here is a little bit of my personal life on here. About a month ago I added a new member to the just me family, her name is Milly and she is the cutest little Boston Terrier EVER! And yea, yea, I know everyone says that their pet is the cutest ever but she really is the cutest pet ever.

I knew I wanted a Boston Terrier but I decided that I didn’t need a puppy due to me having a full time job. So I was keeping my eye out for just the right dog when I saw her posting on Craigslist. I emailed that person so fast and badabing badaboom, I was the proud owner of Milly the next day!

This little pup, who is now nine months, is really a precocious, exuberant, fantastically fun little fur ball! She loves to cuddle and she snores really loud. I actually have to move her in different sleeping positions just so she’ll stop. Her playful ness is never ending-talk about the little energizer bunny or Boston in this case.

She’s not much for toys but she thinks that her little orange brush is the coolest toy thingy ever. Recently, like as in last night, she discovered that her squeaky ball was pretty awesome. It’s so cute because she can’t even get her mouth around this whole thing. She has to hold it down with her paw and then chew her way up the ball until she can get a grip on it with her sharp little fangs. She then proceeds to thrash her head side to side in hopes that she can kill this little squeaky ball that seems to be indestructible, and shred it to its last day. It’s really funny.

I’ve only had her for a month but I’ve already dealt with poop on the flood, puke on the bed and pee on the driver’s seat. Oh yea, that was pretty awesome.  And toilet paper obsession is very obvious with her. One day she somehow pulled a whodini and escaped from her crate. I got home to poo on the floor; all my papers were off the paper because she had shoved them off while exploring for food, all my blankets were pulled off my bed, even the sheets, and she had toilet paper all over the place and most of it was chewed to shreds. But she just looked up at me with those big brown eyes and all I could think of was, your so damn cute. I’ll discipline you later and proceeded to give her lots of hugs and kisses. My kids are probably going to be terrible!

But who cares, she’s my dog and I love her to death. Between all the whining for attention and the mischievous behavior I can’t help but not give a damn about all of it because she fills me with so much more happiness than there was before. I’ll discipline her later:)

Breaunna is Awesome! We had a good time walking around and finding fun places to take some photos. Laurel Hurst Park was so packed full of people, I don’t know how we managed to get any pictures without strangers in them. The sun was out and it only threatened to sprinkle just a little. Breaunna looks beautiful in her pictures so leave her some comments saying so. Talk to Breaunna about getting some rep cards from her so you can earn your discount for this senior season!

Thanks again Breaunna!!
